Human Resources/Risk Manager – Miami Beach, FL

HUMAN RESOURCES/RISK MANAGER:  There is an immediate opening for a full-time, exempt Human Resources/Risk Manager. Provides administrative and technical assistance in administrating the Housing Authority’s human resources and risk management systems. Work involves performing a variety of specialized administrative duties requiring analysis and independent decisions based on interpretation of the policies and procedures of the Authority. Duties involve all HR functions for the Housing Authority’s staff of 40 employees, including payroll, benefits, recruitment, staff development, labor and union items, etc. This position is also responsible for all areas of Risk Management including processing and maintaining insurances for all Authority properties, Worker’s Compensation and Safety. It is responsible for maintaining general and specialized records, and correspondence for both Human Resources and Risk Management. The Human Resources/Risk Manager must exercise considerable independent judgment, initiative and discretion in performing the duties of the position. This is a fast paced, hands-on, department of one that requires a person who is effective at multi-tasking and who is flexible and comfortable with changing duties and responsibilities.

Computer Equipment and Software Requirements:

The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment.  The ability to utilize word processing and spreadsheet applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Access as well as HUD related software is also necessary.   Requires the ability to learn specialized U.S. HUD related software.

Education and Experience Required:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in personnel, business administration or a closely related field, and at least five years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources and/or Risk Management.  Experience working in a housing authority, government, and/or a union environment is strongly preferred.  An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may substitute for education requirement on a year for year basis.
